Avital Ingber, Founder and Principal
Avital Ingber is the Founder and Principal of Ingber Philanthropy Group, a consulting practice advising mission-driven organizations, boards, and philanthropic families on fundraising strategy, organizational growth, and leadership transitions. She is widely recognized for building high-performing advancement operations, aligning boards and executives around ambitious goals, and translating vision into durable philanthropic infrastructure.
Prior to launching her own business, Avital spent six years as Chief Advancement Officer at Honeymoon Israel, where she helped scale a fast-growing national organization through periods of significant growth and complexity. Her work focused on building a sophisticated fundraising strategy, strengthening donor relationships, partnering closely with board leadership, and positioning the organization for long-term sustainability.
Previously, Avital was President and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston, where she led the organization through one of the most consequential periods in its history. Under her leadership, the Federation raised a record $35 million in combined annual campaign, supplemental, and disaster-recovery funds and directed the community’s response and recovery efforts following Hurricane Harvey. Earlier in her career, she served on the senior leadership team of the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington as Chief Development Officer and Managing Director of its endowment, overseeing the strategy and execution of all philanthropic resource development.
Across roles, Avital is known for her ability to integrate fundraising, governance, and leadership strategy; to mentor senior executives; and to help boards operate with clarity, confidence, and accountability. She has designed and led nationally replicated programs and partnerships, guided hundreds of donors and leaders on immersive experiences in Israel, and is deeply committed to strengthening Jewish life and community locally and globally.
In addition to her professional leadership, Avital is actively engaged in volunteer service across the Jewish communal sector. She serves on the Board of Sixth & I, where she also chairs the Nominating Committee. She is Chair of the Global Safety Net Committee at UJA-Federation of New York and serves on its International Planning and Allocations Committee.
Avital holds an Executive Master’s in Leadership from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts from American University. She is based in New York City.
“Avital has an extraordinary ability to cut through noise, see what really matters, and help move the ball down the field like almost no one I know. For nearly 20 years, her honesty, clarity, and strategic wisdom have shaped me and my work in profound ways. Anyone lucky enough to work with her will benefit from her rare combination of insight, directness, and deep care.”
